Jennifer (she/her) grew up in North Carolina and studied Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina. After moving to Oregon, Jen’s love of sport shifted to a focus in outdoor recreation and exploring the beautiful trails, lakes, and rivers of the PNW. After graduating from Portland State University with a Master’s in Social Work, Jen joined the team at AWL to combine her personal passion for the outdoors with a lens for equity and the importance of physical activity for all populations.

In her free time, Jen can be found canoeing, hiking, and camping with her dog, Sawyer.

During this time, Sam's passion for the outdoors and connecting people to their community and to natural spaces grew. Partway through her studies, Sam headed west to Alaska where she earned her Outdoor Skills and Leadership Certificate at the University of Alaska Southeast. There, she developed many of the technical and risk management skills practices today. Over the past decade, Sam has worked as a Trip Leader for her University, Wilderness Therapy Guide in the White Mountains, and Outdoor Educator/Sea Kayak Instructor in Casco Bay, Maine.

Sam moved to Oregon in 2018 and began working for AWL shortly thereafter. In her free time, Sam enjoys rock climbing, skiing, and hiking with her partner.
